Cosmetic Dentistry can involve any treatment to improve the beauty of your smile. But most importantly, it involves taking an artistic approach to smile design with the integration of knowledge, experience, and skill to create a balance between form, function, and beauty.
Dentistry is rapidly moving forward in the areas of cosmetics. New and non-invasive procedures and techniques are available today that were unheard of just five years ago. New materials and new techniques are enabling us to transform smiles and enhance self-esteem and self-image.
WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS IN ESTHETIC DENTISTRY?
A smile can be the most eye-catching feature of your face. Even a subtle change can make a big difference in the way you look and feel. New techniques like whitening, bonding, veneers, CEREC technology and implants allow us to create a beautiful smile with minimal changes to existing teeth.
WHITENING (bleaching) is a very popular procedure in cosmetic dentistry. It is a simple, effective, permanent technique for obtaining a dazzling, whiter smile at home in a matter of days. For a brighter whiter smile, discoloured teeth can be whitened using the latest light energy technology, giving you that added sparkle in just over an hour.
COSMETIC BONDING is a technique that is used to correct minor defects such as slight chips and close small gaps in your teeth. A bonding material with a specific color and shade is applied to your tooth surfaces and sculpted into the desired shape. One of the most popular treatments is the replacement of old mercury fillings with white or tooth-coloured fillings which can make a dramatic difference to your overall smile.
PORCELAIN VENEERS are custom-made, porcelain facings that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They are used to whiten, straighten teeth, repair chipped or worn areas, and close spaces between teeth. For a smile makeover we use the finest handcrafted porcelain veneers.
DENTAL IMPLANTS are routinely used in our clinic to replace missing teeth or to support full dentures. However, we do still offer conventional bridges and dentures as parts of our cosmetic services.
CEREC TECHNOLOGY Here at our clinic, we never cease to embrace the latest advances in dental technology to offer our patients the best quality of care possible. CEREC 3D is one of the most amazing technologies in cosmetic dentistry. It enables us to create and insert full (crowns), and partial (inlays and onlays) ceramic restorations on-site at our ceramic studio during a single visit within about an hour. This is a process which once required many tedious appointments over several weeks!
CEREC 3D uses Omnicam and Computer Aided Design Technology to accurately reconstruct damaged, broken or discolored teeth. The CEREC ceramic contains no unsightly metal. It is highly resilient, aesthetic and extremely bio-compatible, making it the material of choice in modern restoration dentistry. The natural-colored ceramic material resembles the composition of natural tooth structure both in shade and strength allowing the creation of a restoration virtually indistinguishable from its surrounding natural dentition.
During the procedure a digital impression of your tooth to be treated is taken, your new tooth is designed using the latest 3D imaging software. It is then milled on-site from a high quality block of ceramic before being fitted. This groundbreaking technology has proven very successful where busy lifestyles dictate that time is of the essence.
Here are the advantages of the CEREC restorations:
- Single visit, fewer injections.
- No more impression, no more waiting for the lab.
- Natural looking, tooth colored ceramic.
- Ceramic material is biocompatible, high grade, anti-abrasive and plaque resistant.
- Metal-free, mercury-free.
- Extremely precise, allowing the dentist to save more tooth structure.
We are one of a handful of dental practices in Quebec to offer this technology.
